Any fruit or combination of fruit can be used in this recipe. I’ve made it many times with strawberry and rhubarb, apples and strawberries, or just apples. Apples is the version my mother made and that’s where this recipe originates.
Following is the recipe for an 8 x 8 inch or 9 x 9 inch pan. You can adjust to the size of the dish.
- Fruit of your choice
- 3/4 cup quick cooking oatmeal
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup margarine
- nutmeg and cinnamon (optional)
Use as much fruit as is necessary to bring the fruit level to the top of the dish.
- Blend butter and sugar
- Add flour
- Add oatmeal and seasoning
- Spred crumble on top of fruit
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes or as long as it takes to cook fruit.
